SPIRIT/21 honored for climate protection commitment

SPIRIT/21 was honored for its special commitment to sustainability and climate protection as part of the KLIMAfit funding program in the district of Böblingen. The Minister for the Environment, Climate, and Energy of the State of Baden-Württemberg, Thekla Walker, and District Administrator Roland Bernhard presented the certificate to Silke Nixdorf, Chair of the SPIRIT/21 Management Board since October. “My thanks go to my colleagues who have achieved this important milestone. As a company, we have a social responsibility to become climate neutral and to constantly question our actions critically,” said Silke Nixdorf.

Elke Haverich and Jana Schwarz, who were responsible for managing the KLIMAfit project at SPIRIT/21, drew up a greenhouse gas balance and successfully implemented the first steps of a climate management system. Within the defined organizational system boundaries, emissions for Scope 1 and Scope 2 were determined and, with the help of a materiality analysis, the significant Scope 3 emission sources were also identified.

About the KLIMAfit funding program of the state of Baden-Württemberg

KLIMAfit is a funding program of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Environment that enables companies to take a structured approach to climate protection and energy conservation. As part of a six- to nine-month program, companies develop a climate balance sheet, draw up climate protection guidelines, and implement measures to reduce emissions. Accompanied by workshops and consultations, companies benefit from an exchange of experiences and, after successful participation, receive the “KLIMAfit Company” award.
